Second Annual Mardi Gras Jazz Night at Charlestown Town Hall

The Second Annual Mardi Gras Jazz Night will heat up the Town Hall in Charlestown, NH on Saturday, March 1 from 7-10 PM. Featuring the vocals of jazz singer Rebecca Holtz and accompanied by Walt Sayre, the benefit evening will get you into the Mardi Gras spirit with wonderful jazz music, hors d’oeuvres and complimentary beads. Patrons are invited to bring their own beverages and encouraged to come in costume, or at least a mask and a prize will be awarded for the best costume. The admission is $10 and benefits the continued restoration of the Town Hall. 

Rebecca Holtz has been performing as a professional vocalist in New England for several years, and performs most frequently with the 20 piece swing orchestra Compaq Big Band from the Boston area. Her influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Diane Schuur, Beyonce and Rory Block to name a few. Walt Sayre has a long musical career as a music director in NYC and locally in New Hampshire, and has been featured professionally on piano, organ, trombone and vocals. He has performed extensively throughout New England for over 40 years. 

The Town Hall was listed as one of 2012’s Seven to Save by the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and recently was upgraded with new fire alarms and sprinklers. The Town Hall Committee is continuing to raise funds to install heat and new energy efficient windows to the building. The Mardi Gras Night will become an annual event to provide both entertainment for the local community as well as continue to maintain this local treasure. 

The doors will open at 6:30 PM and no advance tickets are required. The Town Hall is located on Summer Street in Charlestown, NH, adjacent to Ralph’s Supermarket on Rte. 12.
